Situated in the art deco district of Mumbai, Bombay Vintage exudes an aura of old world charm and fine dine ambiance. The next time you are in Colaba, see right across the road from Regal Cinema, spot the inviting door of Bombay Vintage, walk in and be mesmerized with its plush interiors (bar on the ground floor and family seating on first), classic colour combinations, grandfather clocks and antique artifacts/photographs adorning the walls, vintage lampposts illuminating the room.
The menu is vast with a focus on fusion food, incorporating Indian, Italian, Continental food. So there is an ode to our classic Pav Bhaji in Pizza way with English Pav Bhaji Pizza; Spaghetti goes the Indian way with Paneer Makhani and Risotto gets a desi touch with Sabudana! Portions suffice 2 light eaters or 1 very hungry person and even though prices are on higher side, quality makes it worthwhile.
We started with Oven Roasted Pumpkin Soup, an antidote to our sore throats and my sister especially loved the smokey pumpkin flavor and I loved the cheesy Melba Toast it was served with, so so good :D
Had a tough time deciding on what to have and not to have from the menu so tried out a lot of dishes starting with Sabudana Croquettes in Appetizer section, delicious mildly spicy sabudana fingers,
My favorite was smokey melt-in-mouth Clay Oven Grilled Cottage Cheese with Mint & Chilli Mayo, dips being delicious enough on their own too,
Next up was Continental Pav Bhaji with Foccacia Fingers, distinct flavor of exotic vegetables in the smooth bhaji making it a great fusion mini meal in itself,
Among main courses, we went for Spinach Ricotta Cannelloni & Zucchini Roulade, both of which were served with spicy Tomato and Cheese Cream Sauce, actually the cheese sort of overpowered everything else but I loved the zucchini crunch a lot :)
For those who love rice, Vegetable Stroganoff is a great option with herbed rice and creamy sauce with exotic veggies,
For those in love with fragrant thai curries, Thai Biryani is the way to go which we had with Green Curry, it was not exactly biryani, more like Pulav with veggies and Thai curry combo, quite spicy and flavorsome,
For Desserts, we had Jaggery Pudding and Chocolate Walnut Brownie, former tasting like custard with jaggery-chocolate sauce -may not be everybody's cup of tea and latter being dense chocolatey that everyone loves :)
The best part about being at Bombay Vintage is the combination of delicious food with impeccable service in really elegant ambiance making it a great option for going with family or loved ones, especially when lovely jazzy music creates a real classic mood for everyone to enjoy :)
